Blogging is gaining popularity on the internet. We’ve seen blogs from five year olds and all the way up to people in their late 80’s. But did you know that you can make money off of these blogs? People are becoming more and more creative with blogs. This is a new and easy way to create a stream of income.
Quick fact: Currently over 57 million American adults read blogs regularly.
Obviously, the first step would be to choose a subject. The number of topics that can be used for a blog are pretty much never ending. Topics could be anwhere from movie reviews, shoes, cooking, and new electronics.
After you have picked a subject that you are comfortable with and can write about you need to find a host and publish your website. A little internet research should allow you to find the right package for you. We use StartLogic for our website. They are reliable, very friendly, and fairly easy to use. There are also many FREE blog hosting companies. If you are not familiar with web design then try finding a blog program such as Greymatter. Use the manual to install the program. If you are still having problems contact a Web designer, we are always happy to help and can design a site that is pretty maintenance free all you have to do is write the blog. You want to generate steady traffic to your blog. Using keywords in meta tags is very important to attract the right visitors to your website.
So where does the money come in? There are quite a few ways to make money off of a blog. If you write about games, you could offer the games that you write about at a discounted price. Try buying them wholesale or using a dropshipper. Amazon.com will pay comission for sales generated from your website. You could also sell advertising space or advertise a business or service.
Another idea is a membership website. I happen to know of a very impressive young girl who decided to make her very popular blog a membership site. She offers daily photos, 24/7 streaming video, weekly web chats, blog, and more. She was making a living off of this at only 18!
The possibilities for Blog based businesses are pretty endless. It isn’t quick income as it takes time to build the website, create a steady stream of content, and bring traffic but it sure does pay off in the end.
