The first ten words are more important than anything you say for the rest of a conversation. First ipressions mean everything. From your clothing to your car, the customer is going to judge you based on the first thing they see and the first things you say.

Take a look at your car, inside and out. Take a picture if you want to. This is the first thing a customer will see when you go to a business meeting. Your car should be nice, neat and clean.

Look in your purse or briefcase. What do you see? Is it organized and neat or messy and cluttered? If you want take a picture of it. This is one of the first things a customer sees. If you are fumbling around looking for a pen they will not be impressed.

Now take a look at your desk. Is it professional? Your desk is a clear example of how you work. If it is sloppy and messy your customer will look at your desk and determine that your work must be sloppy and messy as well. Imagine going to your local bank. You walk up to the teller station and the station is cluttered and completely covered with food, snacks, paper work, checks, cash, paperclips, stamps and other office equipment. Would you really want this person handling your financial transactions? Of course not! The same goes for potential customers and business clients.

Now imagine you are a potential customer. Take a look at those pictures you snapped. Are they what you would consider professional? If not, then it is time to do some serious spring cleaning.

How you look, what you say, how you take care of your things and your workspace are all things that potential customers will look at. It is important to make sure your appearance is neat and clean along with your car, your purse or briefcase and your work space. Make a good first impression and then make that sale!
